Mash daal with Tadka Ingredients:

  1. Take Ghee ¼ Cup 
  2. Take Laung (Cloves) 5-6 
  3. Take Sabut kali mirch (Black peppercorns) 6-8 
  4. Take Adrak (Ginger) julienne 1 inch piece 
  5. Take Pyaz (Onion) chopped 1 medium 
  6. Take Lehsan (Garlic) crushed 1 tbs 
  7. Take Hari Mirch (Green chilies) 2-3 
  8. Take Tamatar (Tomatoes) grinded 2 medium 
  9. Take Hing (Asafoetida) powder ¼ tsp 
  10. Take Lal Mirch powder (Red chili powder) 1 tsp or to taste 
  11. Take Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) ¼ tsp 
  12. Take Namak (Salt) 1 tsp or to taste 
  13. Take Mash daal (White lentil gram) 250 gms (soaked & boiled with salt) 
  14. Take Pani (Water) 1 Cup or as required 
  15. Take Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) chopped 1-2 tbs 
  16. Take Garam masala powder ½ tsp

Tadka For Mash daal: (Optional)

  1. Take Cooking oil 2-3 tbs 
  2. Take Sabut lal mirch (Whole red chilies) 5-6 
  3. Take Zeera (Cumin seeds) ½ tsp 
  4. Take Lal mirch powder (Red chili powder) ¼ tsp 
  5. Take Adrak (Ginger) julienne 
  6. Take Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) chopped

Directions For Mash daal with Tadka:


  1. First In a pot, add ghee and let it melt, add cloves, black peppercorns and mix.
  2. Then Add ginger and mix well.
  3. Then Add onion and fry until light brown.
  4. Then Add garlic and mix well.
  5. Then Add green chilies and fry for a minute.
  6. Then Add grinded tomatoes and mix well.
  7. Then Add asafoetida powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Then Add boiled white lentil gram and mix well.
  9. Then Add water and mix well.
  10. Then Add fresh coriander and garam masala powder, cover and let it simmer for 2 minutes. Its ready to serve!

Tadka For Daak Mash: (Optional)


  1. First in a small frying pan, add cooking oil, whole red chilies, cumin seeds and fry for 1 minute.
  2. Then Turn off the flame, add red chili powder and mix.
  3. At the Last Add tadka on cooked white lentil gram and garnish with ginger, fresh coriander & serve.
